The official launch of ATHENA

The official launch of ATHENA was held on 24th June 2022 during THE INC 2022. By the day of the official launch, ATHENA consisted of 17 research centres/institutes (these are also the founding members of the association) located in 11 different countries.

THE INC (Tourism, Hospitality & Events INternational Conference) 2022 was held from 22nd till 24th June 2022 at the Cyprus University of Technology in Limassol, Cyprus. The conference was co-organised by the Cyprus University of Technology, the University of Derby and the University of Sunderland, and the ATHENA member, the Centre for Research in Tourism Excellence (CERTE). The theme of THE INC 2022 was “Tourism, Hospitality and Events: Innovation and Resilience during Uncertainty”. In parallel with the official launch of ATHENA, THE INC become the official conference of the association.
