CinTurs’ Current Research Themes on World Tourism Day


The Research Centre for Tourism, Sustainability and Well-Being (CinTurs), with the School of Management, Hospitality and Tourism and the Faculty of Economics of the University of Algarve, Faro, Portugal, is organizing a new session of CinTurs’ Current Research Themes on World Tourism Day.

We are delighted to announce that our next guests will be James Higham and Marianna Sigala. The session (in a hybrid format) will take place on 27 September at the room Sala de Atos of the Faculty of Economics, Gambelas Campus, in Faro: 10:30 – 11:30 (Lisbon time, PT) Decarbonisation: Confronting Tourism’s Greatest Sustainability Challenge By James Higham 11:30 – 12:30 (Lisbon time, PT) Wine and Food Tourism in the Context of Sustainability By Marianna Sigala James Higham is a Distinguished Professor at Griffith University, Australia and an Honorary Professor at the University of Otago, New Zealand. His research addresses two broad themes ‘Tourism and global environmental change’ and ‘sport and contemporary mobility’. He served as the Co-Editor of the Journal of Sustainable Tourism from 2014-2021. Marianna Sigala is a Professor at Sheffield Hallam University, UK. Her interests include services and experience management, Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) in tourism and services, and wine tourism. She is the co-editor of the Journal of Service Theory & Practice, and the Editor-In-Chief of the Journal of Hospitality & Tourism Management.
